i3B UPV

THE INSTITUTE

The Institute for Research and Innovation in Bioengineering (i3B) of the Polytechnic University of Valencia (UPV) is a research center integrated in the Polytechnic City of Innovation.
i3B integrates R&D&I activities through multidisciplinary teams that work together for improving human skills through technology.

i3B consists of five research units that bring together more than 60 researchers and developers.
i3B participates in numerous competitive R&D projects in the regional, national and European levels. Moreover, i3B develops turnkey projects with private companies through numerous agreements and projects. i3B has actively participated in numerous Business Chair Programms which link closely with the needs of the socio-economic fabric in its action areas.

LENI

LabLENI carries out research activities for a better understanding and enhancement of human cognition combining insights and methods from computer science, psychology and neuroscience. We also develop solutions to support real-life studies and interventions, rather than for use in laboratory settings only.

LABDESIGN

Labdesign focuses its efforts on developing technologies to facilitate the development of human capabilities that are related to design activities such as spatial skills and the development of intelligent tools to support product design (3D) in a manner as transparent as possible, using a user-centered design approach.

DUX

The group Design for User Experience (DUX) is a research team focused on the study of the interaction between the user and the product at different levels. The main lines of research are the analysis of product perception and identification of user preferences, the conceptual product design supported by algorithmic techniques and neural networks and sensory analysis of the user’s response in the field of gastronomy.

NARCH

Research Group Neuroarquitectura conducts controlled laboratory experiments combining classical techniques of environmental psychology, such as using focus groups and questionnaires, with specific methodologies such as Kansei Engineering and advanced technologies such as Virtual Reality for presentation of stimuli experiments, measurement systems psychophysiological and behavioral (Eye-tracking, ECG, EEG, GSR …) and data analysis using statistical techniques and machine learning.

CVBLAB

During the last 20 years, CVBLab has worked in projects focusing on different fields among which diagnostic aid, human behaviour analysis and applications related to the industrial sector stand out. However, the expertise of CVBLab makes possible to apply their techniques to any field in which big data analysis is required with the aim of creating value. The group is coordinated by Dr. Valery Naranjo, professor of the Departamento de Comunicaciones from the Polytechnic University of Valencia. The team is composed of computer vision and biomedical engineers, PhD students and three post-doctoral researchers.
